As a work from home mom, my daily schedule is a big serving of full! I do the regular things that any stay at home mother does, plus work and homeschool. I'm a very proud single parent of a two year old and seven year old. I've been asked how I manage to add homeschooling to our daily lives, and I have a very simple answer. We use a wonderful first grade curriculum that is completed online.
The curriculum is perfect for any homeschooled child. When you enroll, you set up a parent login and a child login. When it's time for lessons, your child logs in and clicks on the subject that needs to be completed. After a day or two, your child will learn the ropes and be able to login without assistance. Time4learning.com (T4L) keeps track of what your child completes and the next lesson is indicated by an arrow. Believe me they have thought of everything! Checking their grades and progress are simple. The website has a section for your child's grades. You can see what your child has completed and how well he/she is doing. The curriculum is very user friendly.
Within the homeschooling curriculum, you will find Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. The lessons use fun and entertaining characters to keep your child entertained and interacting. They were created by experts that know how to educate your child without overwhelming them. Each group (folder) of lessons work to not only reinforce each other, but to teach your child just a little bit more.
As the parent, I am able to choose the settings for the playground. The playground is a reward type of area included with the online curriculum. You choose the settings related to it.
They offer homeschooling for grades preschool through eighth. My oldest son is in the first grade. Currently for Language Arts we are studying phonics. For Math, we are learning about money and change. One of the things I really like about the math lessons are the short quizzes at the end. Each quiz has five questions. The curriculum grades everything.
Usually we do our online lessons during the morning, although it can be used at anytime. During the afternoon, we complete our offline lessons. These include various subjects such as handwriting, math (flash cards), reading, and more. The online curriculum does contain age-appropriate books that he reads online, but we also read offline as well.
Truly, homeschooling online is a great help to any work at home parent. The curriculum teaches your child directly, leaving you free to attend to other matters. Depending on your child's age and attention span, it may just be for a few minutes or an hour. It's like having another teacher around that is available at anytime. It also gives your child a fresh perspective to their education.
The content of this post was created by me, as one homeschooling parent to another. The content was not created by T4L, although I have been compensated for it.
From the various forums and message board systems I participate in on the internet, I've noticed that there are several work at home moms and dads that would love to homeschool their kids. Yet, they don't. Some do not homeschool because they worry about not having enough time. They wonder how they could homeschool and still have enough time to work from home. I am going to share our homeschooling program with you, as I am a single homeschooling mother that works from home.
Being a work at home mom, I understand how hectic that alone can get. Sometimes I feel like 24 hours is never enough. In August 2007, we started homeschooling my oldest son who is in the first grade. We use a wonderful online curriculum called Time4learning. com. This program has been a life saver. It meets national standards and believe me they have thought of everything. I don't see how any curriculum could be more kid-friendly. Your child can login with his/her own username. The program keeps track of everything, from where they left off to their progress reports. So you can login at anytime and check up on everything.
The homeschooling curriculum teachers your child straight from the computer. All you need is internet and speakers or headphones. It's so simple to use, that your child will be able to mostly do it on their own. Plus, it's so entertaining that it will keep them occupied for quite a long time. When using this homeschool curriculum, it's almost like having another teacher. It's so handy for moms or parents that work from home.
Another reason some work at home parents don't homeschool is because of cost. They worry that they cannot afford the cost of educating their child from home. The homeschooling curriculum we use only costs $19.95 per month. If you have a second child, it's only an additional $14.95 per month. That is so affordable for what you are getting. For first grade, it covers Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. They offer homeschooling for grades Pre - K through 8th. Not only do you get the online lessons, but you get free worksheets as well to print out. After your child has completed their lessons, you can have them to do the worksheets as well to reinforce what they have learned.
Parents can choose the settings for the playground as well. The playground is a kind of reward area for your homeschooling child. There are many online games here. You choose how long, etc. The website is available 24 hours a day, so if you have just one computer you can work around your work schedule. If you have a second computer in your home, you can put it to use for your child's education while you are working.
We also homeschool offline as well. For first grade we have to do handwriting, book reading, etc. Things that cannot be done strictly on a computer. We usually do these first thing in the morning. Later on in the day, we move on to his first grade homeschool online. Depending on your schedule, you could do offline work as needed. If you are married, your spouse can be a huge help.
There are times that I might need to have a quiet environment. That's when the headphones come in handy. The lessons are so entertaining, that your child is going to love doing them. I know my son loves his first grade lessons. Your child can simply slip the headphones on and work on schooling.
If you are searching for a really good, solid curriculum then you need to check out this homeschooling program. I can actually see how much my child has learned from using it. They offer sample lessons so you can see if this would be a fit for your family. After reviewing the lessons, I'm sure you will see why I am recommending it.
It's entirely possible to provide your child a full education, even if you do work from home. Some jobs are easier to work with then others, but if you have the desire to educate your child from home you can make it work!
These opinions are entirely my own about Time4Learning.com. I have been compensated for sharing them.
Well, my son and I have been homeschooling for 3 months now. It's been quite a ride. Even though some may say he's only in first grade, there is a lot to it. He is learning things that are going to be the building blocks. Without the things a first grader learns, it wouldn't be possible to further their education. Small steps are very important.
We use Time4learning.com for his first grade homeschool online. In Language Arts, we are currently on Chapter 5. This is his long vowels, suffixes, and plurals. More specifically, right now we have almost completed all the lessons for ing. The phonics program is amazing. I want to encourage him to have a big interest in reading, and the phonics program has really helped out a lot.
For Math, we are working on operations. We move at a slower pace on this. I use the free worksheets provided with his first grade curriculum as well as worksheets from other souces. I really want to reinforce everything he is learning. I can still look back and remember some of my first grade stuff. I can remember sometimes getting my addition and subtraction mixed up. So I want to make sure he is proficient before we move towards something else. The first grade lessons on the website really help with this. They are very in-depth without being overwhelming.
For Science and Social Studies, we will be moving on to level 2 soon. That's a bonus about this program. If your child is at different levels on different subjects they can be changed. There isn't any one set curriculum like public schools.
If you are interested in trying out Time4learning.com, they do offer free lessons. They have curriculums for school levels Pre-K through eighth grade. The cost is $19.95 per month. I think if you decide to use it with/as your homeschool program, you will be really pleased. Children really enjoy it.
I really love this program and because of this, I share my
homeschooling experiences with the people that read my blogs. The text
is completely my own opinion, although I have been compensated for
posting this.
Homeschooling is a tough job, but it's well worth it. I can see a difference in my son's personality since I have homeschooled him this year. He is currently in first grade. We use a combination of curriculums to complete his first grade lessons. We are a thrifty family, and we have to use affordable resources. On the internet, there are a wealth of places to find worksheets to print out. And they are free. But the worksheets alone won't complete the job.
Children need diversity to learn. And my son loves to play on the computer. So we also use Time4learning.com. Time4learning.com offers first grade activities that children really love. It's only $19.95 per month. The curriculum is very solid, and I have seen that many, many people love their programs.
With their curriculum, it's like having an extra teacher or two to help you out. The curriculum really teaches your child in a fun way. It's very easy to understand and requires interaction from your child. For example, in Language Arts my son is currently learning about sounds/letter combinations such as sh, ch, etc. And he has picked up a lot of words. It's helped him so much with his reading skills.
When you register, you select your child's grade. The great thing about the program is that it can be adjusted. For example, if your child needs more advanced lessons. As a parent, you can login and see the progress your child has made. You can also review their grades. Kids find it easy to use. They have their own login, and the program shows them where they left off. They can just pick right back up again.
Parents have a separate login from the kids. Under the parent section, there is all kinds of information including teaching guides and worksheets. There is also a section called hints that helps you to use the system. It's very easy to use.
Using an online homeschooling curriculum like time4learning.com
really adds to the whole homeschooling experience. It gives it a
variety. Beyond that, it really educates your child. I think anyone
that tries it is going to love it!
My son is currently in the first grade, and he is a homeschooled child.
Most of his 1st grade curriculum is covered on time4learning.com. By using their multimedia lessons, he covers language arts, math, science, and social studies. The lessons are a lot of fun for him. They are extremely creative and interactive. One of the lessons has a drill srg teaching him phonics and words. It really grabs his attention.
For only $19.95 per month, he is getting his first grade curriculum. They have progress reports, teaching guides, and more as well. I feel more secure with a third-party providing his first grade lesson plans.
More than anything, I love the fact that he is so happy to get online and learn. We do other things to supplement his homeschooling program, but overall it's covered there on the website.
They offer free lessons
as well. If you are a homeschooling parent, you should swing by there
and check them out. They offer homeschooling curriculums for Preschool
through 8th grade. If you have more than one child, it's only an
additional $14.95 per month. Once you get over there and check out
their demo lessons, you will see why I love time4learning.com!
